Workshop in Zadar: comparative studies in Northern Dalmatia, May 29th-31st 2016

XXVIII Reunion of the Association pour l’Antiquité tardive and the Workshop in Zadar and Nin, May 29th-31st 2016

Zadar-Nin2Since the Workshop of the CROMART project, planned to take place in Zagreb, was finally held in Istria because the location allowed for a greater number of participants to attend, it was decided that another workshop should take place in Zadar and Nin, mainly in order to take advantage of the presence of many collaborators on the project who attended the XXVIIIe RÉUNION de l’Association pour l’Antiquité Tardive and XXIII IRCLAMA International Symposium in Zadar, Croatia, from May 28th to June 4th, 2016 (Miljenko Jurković, Xavier Barral I Altet, Gian Pietro Brogiolo, Predrag Marković, Alexandra Chavarría, Ivan Matejčić, Jean Terrier, Milagros Guardia Pons, Carles Mancho, Sebastian Bully, Morana Čaušević-Bully, Pascale Chevalier, Enrico Cirelli).

The PI of the CROMART project, M. Jurković, had the opportunity to host for the second time the Association pour l’Antiquité Tardive, after the first one in Poreč in 2002. The programs of the Association, that gathers each year in a different member country, are always concentrated on the local /regional late antique monuments, which suited perfectly for the CROMART workshop. Thus, the first day was consecrated to field discussions in Pridraga and Nin, led by our colleagues N. Jakšić, I. Josipović, M. Radović, M. Predovan, and a CROMART team member P. Chevalier, who also chaired the afternoon session on actual research in Northern Dalmatia, with the papers of team members S. Bully, M. Čaušević-Bully, G. P. Brogiolo, A. Chavarria and M. Jurković, and the participation of all 13 team members mentioned above.

Zadar-Nin1The second day started with a session derived from the title of the CROMART project: Transfers of forms, functions, materials, works of art in the 6th century, chaired by team member I. Matejčić,  papers from A. Chavarria and C. Mancho, and active participation in discussions from all present team members. The afternoon was consecrated to direct autopsy of monuments in Zadar, led by our colleagues M. Domijan, N. Jakšić, I. Josipović and team members P. Chevalier and M. Jurković.
