The articles discuss the vast array of topics, dealing with strictly structural issues or exploring the symbolic, iconographical significance of the transept in the religious buildings of the middle ages. Geographically, the articles cover the area of France, Switzerland, Germany, England and Spain, focusing mostly on western European architectural heritage. The team collaborator, Xavier Baral i Altet has contributed with an article and Jean-Pierre Caillet has written the Conclusions to the book.
The publication of this book, with its topic about the significance of the architectural structure – transept in medieval church building is certainly a valuable contribution to the CROMART project publications.
