The twelfth volume of the series Dissertationes et Monographie, published by the International Research Center for Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages of the University of Zagreb, was presented to the public on May 25th 2018, during the annual colloquium of the Center in Poreč, Croatia. This publication represent a complex analysis of the Romanesque church Sainte-Foy in Conques, France. Its author and also a member of the CROMART project team, Xavier Barral i Altet, is professor emeritus of medieval art at the University of Rennes.
This book represents, as Miljenko Jurković, the principal researcher of the CROMART project, wrote in the preface, the deconstruction of a methodological deadlock. From the written sources to the actual structural analysis of the monument, the outdated theories are rebuked and some new ideas are presented. The book is comprised of six chapters along with an introduction and the conclusion, followed by a detailed bibliography. This book certainly represents a valuable contribution to the group of CROMART project publications and to the research goals of the project in general.
