The excavations of the fortified settlement Guran in southern Istria continued from the 19th to the 29th October 2015. The aim of this campaign (mostly financed by the Croatian Ministry of Culture) was to continue the tracking of the western rampart wall towards south, and document its connection to the inner layout of the settlement. Case study Rab: “International Summer School: Digitizing, Studying and Sharing Architectural Heritage” – September 27th – October 4th 2015
The International summer school “Digital recording, study and public sharing of historical architectures: the city of Rab (Croatia)”, organised by A. Chavarria, University of Padova, is a continuation of former activities in different projects (The transformation of the historical landscape of the island of Rab, University of Zagreb grant, 2014, and the LLP Erasmus Intensive programme: IntSYSTEM, Integrated systems of sources, technologies and methods – remote sensing of historical landscape funded by the EU commission, 2014), and archaeological excavations conducted on the island since 2005 (Kaštelina, Sv. Damjan, Rab, Banjol). Rab has thus become a case study for the implementation of new methodologies and new technologies in research. The summer school is strongly embedded in the CROMART project, involving three project members (A. Chavarria, G. P. Brogiolo, M. Jurković). Case study Rab – excavations 2015, September 27th –October 11th
From September 27th till October 11th 2015 the second archaeological campaign incorporated to the CROMART project was conducted on the island of Rab, continuing the excavations of the late antique church of St Lawrence in Banjol (funded partly by the Croatian Ministry of Culture), and the structures in the inner courtyard of the „Kuća rapske torte“ (funded partly by the University of Padova). In parallel, further research was conducted on urbanism of Rab, within the International summer school (organized by the University of Padova), and the project The transformation of the historical landscape of the Quarnero islands (University of Zagreb grant 2015). Those activities involved project team members A. Chavarria, G. P. Brogiolo, M. Jurković, R. Starac, P. Marković, M. Bradanović, as well as a group of students from Padova and Zagreb universities, and G. Bilogrivić, archaeologist.

The first campaign of archaeological excavations on the island of Rab – the forgery and a part of city walls in the town of Rab, and the church of St Lawrence in Banjol – raised quite an interest of the local population. Presentation of the CROMART project, Perpignan, France, June 2015
During the 27th annual meeting of the Association pour l’Antiquité tardive, that took place in Perpignan, France, it was agreed that the next, 28th meeting will be in Croatia, in Zadar, and will be hosted by the IRCLAMA. Miljenko Jurković, explaining the possibilities of hosting that meeting of the Association, presented the ongoing research in Croatia, linked with the CROMART project. The audience was this time composed of experts in late antiquity from all over Europe.
